Welcome to the Noble Games

The Noble Games are Niagara College's Campus Recreation academic program challenge series. Inspired by the traditions of medieval tournaments and reimagined for today's student experience, one academic program challenges another in an exciting afternoon of friendly competition. Whether competing against another program, students versus staff within their own program, or different cohorts of the same program, participants earn bragging rights while building teamwork, school spirit, leadership, and lasting campus connections.

How it Works

Getting involved in the Noble Games is simple! Each event begins with one academic program deciding they want to challenge another to a friendly day of competition.

1. Choose a Program to Challenge

Your academic program identifies another group you'd like to compete against. Challenges can take place between different academic programs, between students and staff within the same program, or between different cohorts of the same program (such as degree and diploma streams).

2. Register Your Challenge

With the support of your academic program and student leaders, complete the Noble Games Challenge Registration Form. This tells Campus Recreation who you would like to challenge, your estimated number of participants, and any information needed to help create an engaging experience for everyone involved.

3. Challenge Accepted

Campus Recreation will connect with the opponent program to coordinate the event. Once both groups agree, the Noble Games tailoring officially begins!

4. We Build Your Games

Every Noble Games experience is tailored to the participating programs. Campus Recreation designs a 2–3 hour tournament outside of scheduled class time, selecting a variety of physical, recreational, and team-based activities that best fit your group's size and interests and facility availability.

5. Compete for Program Pride

On game day, participants are divided into teams representing their academic program. Teams rotate through a series of exciting challenges, earning 2 points for every event victory. Every point earned strengthens your program's standing on the leaderboard.

6. Claim the Victory

When the final competition ends, the points are tallied. The academic program with the highest total score is crowned the Noble Games Champion, earning campus bragging rights until the next challenge is issued!

What to Expect

Once both academic programs have agreed to compete, Campus Recreation takes care of the rest! Here's what you can expect leading up to game day.

Register to Participate

Students from each participating academic program will receive a registration form to confirm their participation. Registration information helps Campus Recreation determine team sizes, schedule events, and finalize the tournament format.

Receive Your Game Invitation

Once registration closes, participants will receive their official Noble Games invitation, including:

  • Team assignments including team colours and theme
  • Event schedule and competition times
  • Game rules and scoring information
  • What to bring and where to check in
  • Any additional event details

Sample Noble Games Events

Every Noble Games tournament is customized based on the participating programs, group size, facilities, and scheduling. While no two tournaments are exactly alike, event types may include boccia, soccer, cornhole, volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, racquet sports, flag football, fitness challenges, and other fun recreational activities.

Game Day

The Noble Games are designed as a 2–3 hour commitment outside of scheduled class time. Participants should:

  • Arrive on time for check-in.
  • Wear comfortable athletic clothing.
  • Bring clean, indoor running shoes.
  • Come ready to compete, cheer on teammates, and have fun!

Program pride is part of the Noble Games experience! While matching colours or coordinated outfits are not required, they're highly encouraged. The academic program demonstrating the strongest spirit and coordination will earn 2 bonus points toward its overall tournament score.

Looking for another way to contribute? Students can also help design their program's House Banner, which will proudly represent their academic program during the Grand Entrance ceremony and throughout the competition.
